Hello,

I have installed SCOM 2007 R2 and i am interested in monitoring the
performance of my XP workstations. I have the management pack installed and i
am trying to add the workstations to the All business critical workstations
group so I will get alerts on the workstations.

When i click on the group i get the error "The group can not be motified
because their is not group population rule defined"

I read throught he MP install guide and everything is configure correctly.

Any ideas why this still wont work?

Hi

You need to download the management pack and import from disk - there is an
xml file that is part of this Managemen pack that doesn't get imported if
you try to import directly to through the console.

That seemed to work, Thank you!!

One quick question. I had SCOM 2007 SP1 and I upgraded to SCOM 2007 R2.
Things have not really been working correctly since the start.

I would like to uninstall SCOM and do a fresh install. Do I need to wipe the
drive's reinstall the OS, and then install SQL and SCOM? Or can I get away
with just uninstalling SCOM and doing a new install.

My concern is that if I dont wipe the box and reinstall the OS, SQL, and
SCOM, some of the old install will still be present.

What do you think is the best approach?

Hi

In general there aren't any issues with just uninstalling all Operations
Manager core components and reinstalling them without rebuilding the OS. You
will need to reset SQL RS. It is a potentially huge job though as you'll
need to uninstall and then reinstall all agents plus you'll potentially need
to rebuild all customisations - best back up all custom management packs and
try to reimport.

Perhaps post your current issues on the new forums where you'll get more
assistance:
