Discussion:
SCCM Hierarchy not monitored

As a lot of posts I've seen I cant get our SCOM SP1 to monitor SCCM.

Have followed the MP guide, and while under Computer State (under SCCM
folder) if I select the SCCM server all items are managed, the hiearchy
diagram and site hierarchy state are showing as not monitored.

Proxying is turned on for all the agents in the SCOM Administration console.

All the site servers/systems in the hierarchy have been discovered under the
ConfigMgr Server state view.

FQDN has been entered for all the site servers/systems in the SCCM Admin
console.

SCCM is x86 server with all roles apart from DB installed
DB instance is managed and showing as green under the relevant SQL view in
SCOM.

SCCM Action account has SCCM admin rights, have added the system env
variable, no errors seen on SCOM or SCCM server that appear to be relevant.
Have removed and re-imported the MP, but still no joy.

Any help gratefully received!

Hi,

SCCM Monitoring is a bit tricky, and the SCCM Site view has a bug which will
be fixed in R2 of OpsMgr.
There's a few things to check up on:

1: Each and every server that hosts an SCCM component MUST have a SCOM agent
installed for the Hierachy diagram to work.
2: On your management servers check your Operations manager event log to see
if there's any warning events stating it cant add discovery data, this will
most likely show up if the first point isnt in order.

Both SCCM server and the DB server are fully managed, no errors in the ops
mgr logs for either client or server.

Looks like as is the case with a lot of MPs they are just badly written....

Actually the problem with the Site view is not the SCCM MP's fault, it's
internally in SCOM it self.

I had a PSS case on this issue, in my case i got a pop up when opening the
view with an error message, something with unique index blah blah...
Since I didnt have the need for an immidiate hotfix for the problem they
promised it would get fixed in the R2 release of SCOM.

I dont know if it's the same error your running into tho?
In any case from what Ive seen the monitoring and alerting should work just
fine, it's just a matter of the pretty views not being able to display.

Seems to be the case, we get alerts generated from Site Status changes, also
as in my initial post if viewing the sccm server under MS SCCM / Computer
State, select the configmgr server instance in the detail view all roles show
as healthly.

The main issue is preventing us from generating a hierarchy view to be used
as a web based status view... shame..

The other views dont generate any errors when viewing (such as the unique
index issue reported in other posts here.....).

Thanks anyhow.
